The Bucks County Fire Chiefs and Firefighters Association and the Bucks County Commissioners will jointly conduct The 2008 Memorial Service on Sunday morning, October 5th, 2008 in the Bucks County Courthouse Courtyard, rain or shine. Additionally, the name of Fallen Firefighter Frederick W. Mayberry, Station 59, Silverdale, will be inscribed on the Memorial Monument. Firefighter Mayberry died in the Line of Duty on October 5, 1983, while participating in training evolutions at the Bucks County Fire School. The Keynote Speakers will be the Bucks County Commissioners and Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Edward Mann.
We ask all attending fire companies that are bringing apparatus, to park on East Court Street, between Main St and Broad St. There will be assistance given by fire police. If you are bringing a family member of a LODD, please let us know in advance, they will be escorted to a seat by two honor guard members.
The service will start at 1000 hours. All persons attending are asked to be at the Courthouse between 0900-0930 hours. The uniform of the day is Class "A". We will all be marching into the Courtyard at 1000 hours, from the back of the Courthouse on Broad St, led by the honor guards from Doylestown Fire Company #1 and Plumsteadville Fire Company, along with Loch Rannoch, the Pipes and Drums of the Bucks and Montgomery County Emerald Society.
There will be refreshments at Station 19, across from the County Courthouse after the Sunday ceremony.
Again, the Memorial committee would ask that all available firefighters in Bucks County attend this solemn service to commemorate the lives and deaths of these heroes who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
